On the 146th anniversary of the day that Abraham Lincoln was shot, I recommend this 2009 story from The American Scholar about Boston Corbett, the soldier who gunned down John Wilkes Booth in a burning Virginia barn, ending the manhunt for Lincoln’s assassin.
