I know…I know.  I have been very inconsistent, but in the fall, I was working on getting my book Tributes and Trash Talk: What Our Presidents Said About Each Other (KINDLENOOK) ready for publication.  Currently, I’m getting everything together and writing some more pieces for my second book, which I’d really like to release in the next few weeks.  There just aren’t enough hours in the day and, as much as I enjoy it when I’m able to consistently update Dead Presidents, I do have to actually make a living somehow and the advertising commissions here on Dead Presidents aren’t paying my bills.  Book royalties?  Yes.  Those pay bills.

I really am trying to pop in and answer questions and post some things whenever I can, but you guys have to realize that, when I’m not writing, I am reading/studying/researching.  And that can feel like a full-time job, too.

As for the absence this week, I have a very good reason.  I don’t like to brag or anything (that’s a lie…I LOVE to brag), but I’ve literally received 20 books in the mail since Monday from wonderful publishers, including advance copies of Ike and Dick: Portrait of a Strange Political Marriage by Jeffrey Frank and to be released on February 5th (BOOKKINDLE), The Secretary: A Journey With Hillary Clinton From Beirut To The Heart of American Power by Kim Ghattas and to be released on March 5th (BOOKKINDLE), and American Phoenix: John Quincy and Louisa Adams, the War of 1812, and the Exile That Saved American Independence by Jane Hampton Cook (BOOKKINDLE), which won’t be released until May 7th!  So, needless to say, I’ve been reading all week.

Like I said, I totally hope that doesn’t sound like I’m bragging (again…I’m absolutely lying…bragging rules and so do all of my new books), but I have been working hard on stuff that I hope you guys will want to have when it’s finally ready.  I will definitely make a concerted effort to try to answer at least a few questions each day, though.  Cool?

Oh, and I have to say that Ike and Dick: Portrait of a Strange Political Marriage is a FANTASTIC book.  It’s coming out on Tuesday and I highly, highly, highly recommend it.  I couldn’t put it down and read it cover-to-cover in one sitting.  Great book.  I know it’s very early in the year and, granted, I’ve only read 7 books so far in 2013, but Ike and Dick is the best book I’ve read so far this year.  By far.  Definitely pick it up.
