I think he is a remarkable man. ”Remarkable” doesn’t necessarily mean “good”. Fidel Castro ability to survive for as long as he did with the forces that were aligned against him is a fascinating story. And what he did with the Cuban Revolution in overthrowing the ultra-corrupt Fulgencio Batista was truly remarkable.
Was Fidel a benevolent leader who took care of his people and his country? No. But he was a giant of the 20th Century and one of the most interesting figures in history — not simply recent history but all of history.
