Actually, quick correction: it was Justice Sonia Sotomayor who administered the oath of office to Vice President Biden this morning.
But, no, it’s not the first time. When President Kennedy was assassinated, Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as President inside Air Force One on the tarmac at Love Field in Dallas by U.S. District Court Judge Sarah T. Hughes of Texas.
