We all know the great oratorical abilities of Lincoln, FDR, JFK, Reagan, Obama etc. But which President was the worst at public speaking?

Well, Jefferson was such a poor speaker that Presidents didn’t deliver their own State of the Union Addresses for over 100 years after him, so that’s worth noting.

Of the modern Presidents that we’re able to watch or hear, I think Hoover was probably the worst.  Eisenhower had an awkward way of speaking, but Eisenhower commanded attention.  Hoover’s manner of speaking was very straight-forward and monotone — a big difference from other Presidents of his era like Harding or FDR, or even Coolidge, who wasn’t as terrible of a public speaker as you would imagine.
