Are presidential inaugurations on set dates or was Reagan just a genius by placing it on the same day as the super bowl?
No, Inauguration Day is a date set by the Constitution. Since the Twentieth Amendment was ratified in 1933, Inauguration Day has been January 20th (my birthday!). Before that, Inauguration Day was March 4th and the last inauguration to take place on March 4th was FDR’s first inaugural in 1933.
