It doesn’t bother me.  It’s just a dumb ceremony honoring a team that won a world championship, not some pressing national security matter.  It’s not the first time that a player has bailed out of the ceremony, and I’m sure it won’t be the last time.  I don’t think the President cares all that much — he recognizes numerous teams throughout the year.  It’s more of an honor for the player and the team, and it really shouldn’t be something that is affected by politics.  Unfortunately, almost everyone allows everything to be affected by politics today.
